Funnily enough, even with the upcoming ARC parties, I can only think of two to three books off-hand that I’m seriously looking forward to reading in 2015. But I blame my backlog of books that came out this year which I haven’t read yet.

After some major browsing on Goodreads, though, here is a list of books I’m looking forward to adding to my to-reads list (or are in my to-reads list):

Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2015

RED QUEEN by Victoria Aveyard

“The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.

To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change. Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.

But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?”

UPROOTED by Naomi Novik

“Agnieszka loves her valley home, her quiet village, the forests and the bright shining river. But the corrupted Wood stands on the border, full of malevolent power, and its shadow lies over her life.

Her people rely on the cold, driven wizard known only as the Dragon to keep its powers at bay. But he demands a terrible price for his help: one young woman handed over to serve him for ten years, a fate almost as terrible as falling to the Wood.”

THE SIN EATER’S DAUGHTER by Melinda Salisbury

“16-year-old Twylla lives in the castle. But although she’s engaged to the prince, no one speaks to her. No one even looks at her. Because Twylla isn’t a member of the court. She’s the executioner.

As the goddess-embodied, Twylla kills with a single touch. So each week, she’s taken to the prison and forced to lay her hands on those accused of treason. No one will ever love her. Who could care for a girl with murder in her veins?”

A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES by Sarah J. Maas

“When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.”

THE GIFT OF POWER by Tamora Pierce

(no cover)

“In which we learn of Numair’s last years at the university of Carthak, the beginning of his conflict with the newly-made Emperor Ozorne (Numair’s best friend), his quick departure from Carthak, and how he survives afterward.”

Side Note: Been. Waiting. For This. Since FOREVER. Also: Numair backstory! This is where I salivate like a drooly drooly Tamora Pierce fangirl.

DEAD HEAT (Alpha & Omega #4) by Patricia Briggs

“For once, mated werewolves Charles and Anna are not traveling because of Charles’s role as his father’s enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal, as Charles plans to buy Anna a horse for her birthday. Or at least it starts out that way…

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous Fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The Fae’s cold war with humanity is about to heat up—and Charles and Anna are in the cross fire. “

Side Note: Okay, I haven’t started reading Fair Game (#3 of Alpha & Omega) yet, but I’m always looking forward to a new book from the Mercy Thompson universe, so there.

PRUDENCE by Gail Carriger

“When Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama (Rue to her friends) is given an unexpected dirigible, she does what any sensible female would under similar circumstances – names it the Spotted Crumpet and floats to India in pursuit of the perfect cup of tea. But India has more than just tea on offer. Rue stumbles upon a plot involving local dissidents, a kidnapped brigadier’s wife, and some awfully familiar Scottish werewolves. Faced with a dire crisis and an embarrassing lack of bloomers, what else is a young lady of good breeding to do but turn metanatural and find out everyone’s secrets, even thousand-year-old fuzzy ones?”

Side Note: ALKWLAKWA. I just saw this and face-planted on my desk. ANOTHER Gail Carriger series?! In the SAME steampunk London universe?! *swoons* And I’ve only just read the first books of her other series!

THE DIAMOND CONSPIRACY (Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences #6) by Pip Ballantine and Tee Morris

“Having narrowly escaped the electrifying machinations of Thomas Edison, Books and Braun are looking forward to a relaxing and possibly romantic voyage home. But when Braun’s emergency signal goes off, all thoughts of recreation vanish. Braun’s street-wise team of child informants, the Ministry Seven, is in grave peril, and Books and Braun must return to England immediately.

But when the intrepid agents finally arrive in London, the situation is even more dire than they imagined. The Ministry has been disavowed, and the Department of Imperial Inconveniences has been called in to decommission its agents in a most deadly fashion. The plan reeks of the Maestro’s dastardly scheming. Only, this time, he has a dangerous new ally—a duplicitous doctor whose pernicious poisons have infected the highest levels of society, reaching even the Queen herself… “

THE GLASS ARROW by Kristen Simmons

“In a world where females are scarce and are hunted, then bought and sold at market for their breeding rights, 15-year old Aya has learned how to hide. With a ragtag bunch of other women and girls, she has successfully avoided capture and eked out a nomadic but free existence in the mountains. But when Aya’s luck runs out and she’s caught by a group of businessmen on a hunting expedition, fighting to survive takes on a whole new meaning.”

SHADOWS OF SELF (Mistborn #5) by Brandon Sanderson

(no cover)

“The Sequel to the Alloy of Law”

Side Note: I haven’t read the first Alloy of Law book, but anything that brings me back to the Mistborn universe is ALWAYS something to look forward to.

    1. Thanks! I almost wish these new books would take a break and let me catch up to my backlog, but alas, lol. Maybe I’ll get to read way more in 2015!
