Stacking the Shelves: No. 4

NO SELF-CONTROL. That is how I managed to get myself into the mess of adding more books to my pile. That and the fact that Books of Wonder was holding another author event; after missing BEA (both Armchair BEA and the actual BEA–especially when I work SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF NYC), I needed my book-fix and I had to take it elsewhere or I would be miserable for the entire weekend. This is totally me justifying my lack of self-control, by the way.

Stacking the Shelves

We are all book lovers and the need to share our enthusiasm is sometimes overwhelming. Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

If you’re anything like me, you are probably hoarding books and even though you are excited about your latest book arrival, it might be a while before you get to review it and Stacking The Shelves is a good way to express your undying enthusiasm for those titles!

Hard Copy Acquisitions

It may have been a string of luck, coincidence, and grievance that brought me to check in on Books of Wonder an hour before their Friday event, “Fantastic Teen Fiction.” Some of the authors already piqued my interest, though admittedly, it was Rae Carson’s name that prompted me to stay. I thought about buying just the first book to satisfy my curiosity. Then I felt weird just getting The Girl of Fire and Thorns when they were highlighting The Bitter Kingdom, and then I felt weird about getting just the third book when I didn’t have TGoFaT and The Crown of Embers. So. Naturally, I wound up getting all three.

This is less of a splurge than I did with the Garth Nix books, but still, no less awesome. I started reading the first few pages of The Girl of Fire and Thorns while I waited and already I’m appreciating how much she put into the world. I am certainly looking forward to reading all three fantasy books. And to the kissing. And hijinks.

Library Borrows

Glory in Death by J.D. Robb – Had to get my fix in for this type of book somewhere!

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss – I started the book a bit, but it’s currently taken a back-burner to Novik’s Uprooted.
