You know, I don’t think I’ve ever actually done a Top Ten Tuesday regarding book covers, so that’s going to be my TTT Rewind for the week. Sometimes I tend to let the book covers do the talking, and I have bought and read books solely BECAUSE of their gorgeous book covers (and enjoyed a bunch of them, actually…I’m talking about YOU, A Darker Shade of Magic!). To put more of a twist on this, I’ll do the top ten covers on my TBR list, which are books I’ve looked at and decided to add to my list because they were preeetty (and yes, this is me totally judging a book by its cover). Whether or not I’ll enjoy them is a different story, but judging from their book jacket summaries, I actually might.
Top Ten Gorgeous Book Covers on my TBR List
Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee || Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn || These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly
I tend to have eclectic cover tastes, which is probably why there isn’t a set theme about the covers I end up liking. They just strike me as lovely in their own way. Heroine Complex is pretty much a graphic novel I’d love to read. These Shallow Graves looks so eerie and pretty at the same time. And Outrun the Moon is a historical fiction, which I don’t always read, but that cover with lanterns!
The Beauty by Jeremy Haun, Jason A. Hurley || The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo || Dreamstrider by Lindsay Smith || Firebirds Rising: An Anthology
The Beauty looks so ghastly and pretty at the same time. I’ve had Dreamstrider on my TBR for aaaages, I just haven’t got the time to get to it, but the colors in the cover are lovely. The Ghost Bride has the loveliest combination of colors, and I love that Firebirds Rising has a tree without any leaves (and it DOES look like a bird), haha.
Eon by Alison Goodman || The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow by Katherine Woodfine || The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine
Even before I read the back jacket summary of Eon (and honestly, this is so my type of book), I fell in love with the cover. The silhouette of a dual-bladed warrior is just SO PRETTY. The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow has a quirky cover, which gives me reason that there’ll be some saucy humor in the story. And I really can’t resist apple covers, even though I’m not the biggest fan of Snow White-ish inspired stories. The Shadow Queen is probably the third book I’ve added to my TBR because of apples in the cover.
The Dream Strider has such a lovely cover, it looks really interesting! 🙂

I am a sucker for a good book cover as well. I love the look of The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow (I’m also all about interesting titles), so I definitely want to pick it up in the near future. Great list!

Haha, me too! I think at some point I’m going to have to do a TTT about book titles as well.

I really enjoyed Ghost Bride. The setting and culture are really well developed, and it’s just enough creepy without being too much. Shadow Queen was pretty good, though not too impressive for me.

Eon does have a lovely cover and that was also one of the reasons why I got a copy of it. Sadly, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was expecting. I hope you like it better than I did! I’ve seen The Beauty at the bookstore and I think it looks really creepy haha.

Haha. I’d probably gravitate toward The Beauty if I’d seen it on the shelves.
