TTT: Extraordinary Titles

Alright, so these titles are very subjective in their extraordinary-ness. This week, the list is really about books that I picked up primarily for the fascinating titles they bore. This doesn’t exactly mean that I enjoyed the books themselves, but the titles certainly helped me put my foot down on them!

Ten Extraordinary Book Titles

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente – Just the overly-long title makes me giggle every time I pick up this book. It was very good!

Heretics Anonymous by Katie Henry – This was definitely interesting as a reading, and just the cover with the title made it even more interesting.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han – I love books with song titles, and this was fabulous.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer – One of the reasons that propel the main character into going to Guernsey in the first place was the title of the book society held there. So of course she goes and investigates. Frankly, I saw the title on Netflix and ended up clicking it. The book itself is just as good!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz – I kept seeing this title pop up on book blog feeds and it always intrigued me. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype for me, but the title is still gorgeous.

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus – This was definitely one of those titles that made me go “whuh?” real quickly. So yeah, duh, I loved it.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr – The title definitely doesn’t tell you much about the book itself, but once you’ve read it, it makes absolute sense.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – I knew nothing going into this book, other than the fact that it’s such a pretty title. And, well…it’s come to be one of my favorites of the decade. So there.

The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss – It’s such a pretty title, and it promises the exact thing: the book itself is a slow regard of silent things, hah.

And I Darken by Kiersten White – I really liked the title used for this book. I’m still on the fence with the story itself, because I liked some of the story and disliked the other half. I might have to pick up the next book, though, because I am curious as to how White’s going to do the rest Rada’s story.
