I may have vanished a bit when it comes to blogging over the last few months. I admit, I did not expect to be so overwhelmed with work and NaNoWriMo, and my reading had slowed since school started. However, I’ve got one more book to go for my Goodreads goal, and I’m on my way to finishing two more before the new year, so there’s that!
And unless I finish Thunderhead in 2019, it’s safe to say that this top ten list is pretty much solid for the year.
So in no particular order… (and with links attached to each review…)
Top Ten Favorite Books of 2019
Geekerella by Ashley Poston || Scythe by Neal Shusterman || The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs || The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente || The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini || Shades of Magic, Vol. 1: The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab
Saga, Vol. 7 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples || A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness || Educated by Tara Westover
Honorable mentions to Becoming by Michelle Obama, The Wicked + the Divine, Vol. 7 by Kieron Gillen, Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab, and The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski for almost making the list but I had to cull somewhere, right?
I’ll go over some of these books in more detail on my comprehensive End-of-Year in Books post this week, but there it is.
Educated made my list too! And Song of Achilles and The Kite Runner are both amazing 😊 Great list!

Oh by the end of The Song of Achilles I was practically bawling. I lost it in the scene with Thetis and Patroclus the most.

A Monster Calls is one of my favorite books ever. Loved Scythe and The Kite Runner too. Saga is on my TBR list, and I’m going to be reading Educated this month.

I did lessons on A Monster Calls for my sixth grade English class and the kids absolutely loved it! Definitely one of my best book choices of 2019.

Educated was great! And I’m hoping to finally read The Song of Achilles and Circe this year. I don’t know how I’ve waited so long. 🙂

I definitely recommend both! Madeline Miller really knows her stuff and can tell a story to boot.
