I’ve been horrible at reading books I’ve gotten recently, so who knows when I’ll get to these, even though I’d been jumping to get these copies for forever now!
I’m horrible, but I was excited for having these copies with me! Order is from the most recent to the least.
Top Ten Recent Book Acquisitions
Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim – OwlCrate acquisition! I’ve always preferred the OwlCrate versions of the covers, from the colors to the change in artwork. This one, though, I’m a little underwhelmed in. I actually kind of liked the original cover, I guess.
Going Bovine by Libba Bray – Found this as a giveaway at my local library! I read The Diviners by Bray and loved it, and from the first few pages of this one, it’s going to be great. I lent it to one of my 8th graders, and he’s already several chapters in.
American Royals by Katharine McGee – I actually forgot I preordered this until it showed up in the mail and I was very excited that I preordered a signed copy. Fun stuff!
The Art of the Mass Effect Universe – This one I didn’t read all the way, but the pictures was what made this entire book purchase worth it, obviously. As a big Mass Effect fan, all I really need now is a model of the Normandy to grace my workspace.
Time to Depart by Lindsey Davis – Christmas gift from a friend. I haven’t been reading any Lindsey Davis in a while, but it’s difficult to forget anything of Falco’s story. This is a novel I’d probably read over the summer as light reading. Because historical whodunnits is totally light reading…
Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish and Fritz Siebel – A children’s book to end all children’s books. A Christmas gift from my sister, and it’s awesome. Because there is no god. Only Amelia Bedelia.
The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo – I got quite a few novels from my TBTBSanta and this was one of them! The cover is lovely, and I can’t wait to read it, even though it’ll probably take me a while…per usual XD.
A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi – Second TBTBSanta book received and a spinoff sequel to The Star-Touched Queen, which I actually loved. This one’s main character is one of my favorites in the previous book, so I have high expectations on this.
The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White – I’ve only actually read And I Darken in its ARC form, but I liked certain aspects of it, one of which is her depiction of a strong female character. This depiction of Guinevere is sure to be spot on as another fierce female as well.
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi – I couldn’t help myself. I haven’t started reading this yet, BUT I FLIPPED THROUGH THE CHAPTERS BECAUSE THE ANTICIPATION WAS TOO MUCH. Anyway, this might be the one book I’ll probably read before the others just because I can’t wait to be back in this Avatar The Last Airbender-esque universe.
Lots of great books here! i’m sort of surprised, but i agree with you about the OwlCrate cover. I definitely prefer the original. The Ghost Bridge made my list, too! But like you, it’ll probably be … a while … until I actually read it. Because I’m horrible, too, I guess. I hope you love A Crown of Wishes! I actually liked it even better than the first one. :3

Ooh, that’s nice to know about A Crown of Wishes! I loved the first book already, but I was definitely more interested in the secondary characters of Star-touched Queen.

Haha I actually lent going bovine to one of my students and he hasn’t been able to put the book down yet! I’m guessing he’s having fun too, lol!
