Here I thought I was catching up to the list of book-thoughts I wanted to put up, but I just find myself being a bit too prolific of a reader at the moment. Not that I’m complaining. This means content for weeeks (okay, I exaggerate).
Got through the second book of the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi, and again, I was definitely ready to just abandon this series altogether. I guess I’m really just not hitting it off with Juliette as a character, and the first person perspective drove me nuts because of this. That said, the latter half of the book got much better (and I’m not just saying that because I’m biased towards Warner or anything…). Liked this better than the first book, that’s for sure! My students attest to the fourth book being their favorite, so that remains to be seen.

Hook, Line, and Sinker I’d ended up borrowing at the library because of the hype I’ve seen on IG Reels (aka the IG BookTok). It’s meant to be a standalone, since this book deals with one of the Bellinger sisters, Hannah (the other book I’d seen being raved over, It Happened One Summer, is about the first Bellinger sister, Piper. I certainly went into this book with zero expectations of how the romance would play out, but honestly wasn’t too invested in it. I wanted to say I was suffering from The Love Hypothesis withdrawal, but I really enjoyed the other contemporary romance I’d read afterward, so it wasn’t just that. I guess I’m just not that into fishermen.
