About Me

mari1Hi. Yes. My name is actually Marilag. It is pronounced as you see it, but if that’s not much of an indication, I’m not opposed to the shortened form of Mari (Mary with an “I”, only pronounced as Mah-ree).

Alright, now that we’ve got that over with…

I like to write. I like to write about my hobbies, which mostly means I park myself in front of the most comfortable couch ever to watch TV or play video games. When I’m not doing that, I’m walking all over town and pit-stopping at the library because I have an obsessive compulsive behavior toward books and comics, and I never seem to fail to borrow at least one thing from said library, even though I have the reading speed of a turtle in heat (which isn’t very fast at all, let me tell you). When I’m not doing that, I’m baking or decorating or cooking or all three–not at the same time, because that would be a downright mess. When I’m not doing that, I’m destroying lives at the computer, either by waging war as a Holy Egg empress or laughing maniacally because my Sims are burning down their backyards. And when I’m not doing that, I fool around in Virtual Hogwarts (yeah, that’s been a big part of my life for some time now).

mari2Mostly I write. Probably to the point of economical ruin (but not quite, since, you know, I actually do work). Eventually, I would like to take that writing to the big leagues, but for now, I’ve mostly been more successful with short stories than anything else, though that’s probably because I have issues with finishing actual novels (nevermind that I have two lying around somewhere, one of which is in the querying circuit).

My scribbling interests are fantasy-related, though I have penned some horror and some humor now and then. But I love the fairy tales, the swords and sorcery, the lady knights and dragons and magic by gaslight. I do read a variety of other things (which you can find in my Goodreads Account), though, again, I am mostly a fantasy fanatic.

So yes, I think that’s enough about me, because at this point, I’m hoping you’ve already stopped reading. So instead of boring you with more detail, you might as well go to where the actual content changes, yeah?

    1. I was playing with the idea of sleep (from “somnus”) and the fact that I tend to get most of my story breakthroughs when I’m napping/sleeping. So it’s kind of like I’m divining (from “manteia”) my dreams by writing them down, haha.

I totally thought it was an actual word, though…or maybe that was just “somnolence”. Hmm.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi!

I’m not a big historical reader. I prefer historical fiction, and even that depends on the time period. So I’ll have to pass!
