Initial Thoughts: The hype just came back up because of an upcoming Netflix show, but I persisted in this train because I did love the original Grisha trilogy, and for chrissakes, this book is a HEIST FANTASY and I effing love heist stories. And I love the characters in this book. I love them so [...]

Initial Thoughts I am so torn on this review because there was definitely some enjoyment on my end at the beginning of the book; I certainly liked the characters okay, and the whole notion of THE Greek gods fending for themselves to avoid dying in New York City was AMAZING. But then, you know, the [...]

Some audiobook love here! I admit, I've been listening more to audiobooks than reading because I've been busy with work and class. Most of my book-reading has been school-related lately, and so I haven't been as focused on my other books as I normally am. (That said, I've been reading Six of Crows this week [...]

I've been greatly neglecting many things, including this poor blog, but here I am, coming from the woodwork on this chilly--but lovely--Easter morn to talk about food that I ended up making out of the fiction I've been reading! So I finished Lore by Alexandra Bracken some days ago, and I would be remiss if [...]

Mini Reviews: The Book of Lost Names, The Lost Girls of Paris

I guess I was on a WWII kick for the past few weeks, because that's really all I listened to on audiobook. And then suddenly...I wasn't. There was another audiobook that I'd listened to that went along the themes of WWII women who dealt with the war in some way, but by the time I [...]

Mari-with-an-I prefers her fantasies drenched in oil and fried up in faerie, but when that’s not the case, she’ll read it anyway. She likes writing what she reads, and likes baking while she writes. She’s written a few things for anthologies, including an anthology that got translated into Czech (I know, right?! Eeeeee!), and if you haven’t read them yet, she urges you to do so! Who knows, there might be a few cookies waiting for you at the end of the read.

…Or not. (Blast her pet steampoctopus for eating them all!)
