Marilag and Meghan round out season 2 of 1001 Nights with a stand alone volume/prequel to Vertigo’s Fables series: 1001 Nights of Snowfall! This book consists of multiple artists and prequel stories of some of their major characters. Mari and Meg talk about the stories and artwork and some of their favorite other comics that the artists have participated in.

And Meghan has finally figured out how to say the protagonist’s first name!

Season 4: Which Retelling Next?

Season 4: Which Retelling Next?

We’re looking for your input! Again, it’s about time that we’re finishing up a season and gearing for the next, so while Meg and I are putting together our Donkeyskin retellings, we’d love it if you go and vote for our next podcast retelling. Please and thank you and I will hopefully be back next post with a review or two!

Fableulous Retellings Podcast

Before we get into the nitty gritty of polling, we just wanted to announce the winning fairy tale to be retold in the last poll: Donkeyskin! Yep, with your help, we now know what to talk about for our third season.

That being said, we are also sending out some invites! Want to chat with us about Donkeyskin retellings? Let us know! This fairy tale is a personal favorite of mine, but that’s probably because deep down I have a sick and twisty soul with a penchant around sick and twisty tales. In any case, there’s going to be lots of fun discussing the issues to be had in this fairy tale. There’s still a couple weeks left before Season 2 comes to a close, so do let us know if you’re willing to make a guest appearance on our fableulous podcast!

Alright, now that we’ve finally locked down…

Please vote for our Season 3 fairy tale! You can look at the details on the original post, and it is a very quick click of the button. We promise there won’t be any dangerous beasties lurking in the corner, so it’s safe to vote your hearts away. Thank you kindly!

Season 1 is almost done, and we’ve got Season 2 under way, but now we need YOUR help! What fairy tale retelling should we delve into next?

This is just a mere fraction of the fairy tales written down in the world, but you guys, there are SO many options of what to delve into!

We’ve got a couple of ideas of where to head to next, but it would be fun to see what you guys want to see us discuss. So for that to work, we’ve made a teeny tiny poll. Tell us which of the fairy tales you want discussed in our podcast. To keep it concise, we’ve listed down three fairy tales and if you want to suggest us something, throw them in the comments section!

Please make note that we do look for fairy tales that have been RETOLD in at least two different works…

Season 1, Episode 1: Beauty and the Beast

Season 1, Episode 1: Beauty and the Beast

I mentioned this a while back, where my friend and I were embarking on a fairy tale retelling podcast. And after weeks of putting our first season together, we’ve finally published our first episode!

For our first season, we will be discussing the wonderful story of Beauty and the Beast. The episode takes a look at two of the original tales and discusses the importance of roses, libraries, and invisible servants within the popular tale.

If you like fairy tales, fairy tale retellings, fantasy, podcasts, and, well, YA and NA stories, you should really check Fableulous Retellings out.

Meg and Mari open their first season by discussing the classic original fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast! They focus on the original and first adaptation as it is frequently what is used in modern retellings. They make their checklist to use against the five modern retellings they’ll be reviewing this season, as well as why they think the story came to exist!
