Mini Reviews: Monstress Vol. 5, Lady Justice

So I participated in the #24in48 Readathon this month, and that resulted in quite a number of books read for the month of February. These graphic novels were just some of the books I ended up finishing, and I love being ahead in my TBR pile for the year. So far, so good...we'll see how [...]

Roma and Juliette || These Violent Delights Review

Initial Thoughts WHAT. NO. THAT'S NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO END I AM UPSET. Okay, breathe. Honestly, the words "1920s" and "Shanghai" did the trick. I was slightly wary that because this was a Romeo and Juliet inspired story, that I wouldn't enjoy it as much. But then I read that beginning, and honestly, that [...]

All Hail the King of Mars || The Martian Review

Initial Thoughts  I've been a big fan of the movie and have seen it several times now (add another one in a few minutes after writing this review...), and all that time, I hadn't read the book. IT HAS CHANGED NOW. And for the better. I really enjoyed how realistic the scenarios was, as though [...]

The Con of All Cons || The Lies of Locke Lamora Review

Initial Thoughts: I started this book in the middle of my rewatch of the entire White Collar series, which is pretty much all about con men with hearts of gold. Kind of like Locke and his Gentlemen Bastards. I ended this book after having watched another series dealing with grifters (WHAT IS THIS PATTERN?!), but [...]

Enter the Duke || The Duke & I Review

Enter the Duke || The Duke & I Review

Initial Thoughts:  Seemed a bit tame compared to some of the historical romances I've dabbled with, but honestly, I mostly adored Daphne's three older brothers in the book. I don't think I particularly took to Daphne and Simon's relationship as much as I did in the TV adaptation, but I did enjoy them as characters [...]

Mari-with-an-I prefers her fantasies drenched in oil and fried up in faerie, but when that’s not the case, she’ll read it anyway. She likes writing what she reads, and likes baking while she writes. She’s written a few things for anthologies, including an anthology that got translated into Czech (I know, right?! Eeeeee!), and if you haven’t read them yet, she urges you to do so! Who knows, there might be a few cookies waiting for you at the end of the read.

…Or not. (Blast her pet steampoctopus for eating them all!)

3 cookies = Book was good but I expected better.

2 cookies = Meh.

1 cookie = Why did I even bother?!

Girls night wasn't girls night without sushi, bubble tea, brownies, mochi donuts, cupcakes, onigiri, peach soju, the occasional "gate crashers" who dropped off presents and checked up on us, aaaand a rewatch of Bridgerton. Yeah, I'd say it was fun.
