Mini Reviews: Fangirl Vols 1 and 2

So a few years after I'd finished my undergrad studies, I came across Fangirl, which became one of my favorite reads back in the day. I had related to the story so much--as both someone who had mild social anxiety as well as someone who escaped said anxiety by going into fiction and fanfiction. Nowadays [...]

Mini Reviews: ExtraOrdinary, Lore Olympus

Getting through some of these mini reviews so I can finally catch up on the major books I've been meaning to review (which isn't much, in retrospect...). Both are graphic novels released around the same time, and both quick reads! Have you read either of these books? What did you think?

Mini Reviews: Legend and Prodigy Graphic Novels

I usually love it when I see graphic novel adaptations of books I love. In this case, though, the Legend series graphic novels actually brought me back to finishing up the trilogy itself. There was just so much emotional angst in Prodigy (none of which I reveled in) that I wasn't keen on picking up [...]

So I participated in the #24in48 Readathon this month, and that resulted in quite a number of books read for the month of February. These graphic novels were just some of the books I ended up finishing, and I love being ahead in my TBR pile for the year. So far, so good...we'll see how [...]

Mini Reviews: The Steel Prince, Vols. 2 and 3

Here's a bit of a Schwabfest. It's been two years since I've actually read the first volume of The Steel Prince series (you can tell by the fact that I've since changed my mini-reviews format!), but it left such a lasting impression that I certainly had no trouble picking up where they left off! The graphics [...]

Mari-with-an-I prefers her fantasies drenched in oil and fried up in faerie, but when that’s not the case, she’ll read it anyway. She likes writing what she reads, and likes baking while she writes. She’s written a few things for anthologies, including an anthology that got translated into Czech (I know, right?! Eeeeee!), and if you haven’t read them yet, she urges you to do so! Who knows, there might be a few cookies waiting for you at the end of the read.

…Or not. (Blast her pet steampoctopus for eating them all!)

5 cookies = Book was so deliciously awesome that I couldn't put it down or get it out of my mind for a while.

4 cookies = Book was great and certainly worth the read.

3 cookies = Book was good but I expected better.

2 cookies = Meh.

1 cookie = Why did I even bother?!

Was this worth the wait?! DAMN RIGHT IT WAS. ACOTAR playing cards by @elithienart and everything from the packaging to the artwork and the cards themselves are 👩‍🍳 💋 💋 💋. Absolutely gorgeous. #acotar #playingcards #acotarfanart #elithienart
I CANNOT get over how gorgeous this @fairyloot edition is of Spice Road by Maiya Ibrahim! They've definitely knocked it out of the ballpark this month, for both the adult and YA boxes 🥰 #spiceroad #maiyaibrahim #fairyloot #yabox #special edition books #bookstagram
