Mini Reviews: A Dowry of Blood, The Radium Girls

I think this is the mini review that took me out of my usual faire, so while I didn't love these books, I appreciated having read them anyway. A Dowry of Blood came onto my radar because of the FairyLoot edition, and not gonna lie, that special edition is GORGEOUS. To be fair, I hadn't [...]

Mini Reviews: What Moves the Dead, Monstress Vol. 6

Another set of mini reviews! I actually did a pretty good job of getting through the books I've read this year. And here I was thinking I would need to slow down on the reading to be able to review them all! But I suppose there's my reading journal and copious amount of time now [...]

Secret Society Magic || Ninth House Review

Initial Thoughts  Well color me enthralled and just a dash of impressed. I honestly hadn't expected the end to put in such a bang, but it made all the slowly developing mystery and plot worth the read. I loved Alex's ferocity and enjoyed the Darlington POVs as well. The whole story ran a bit slow, [...]

Don’t Listen To– || Dead Voices Review

Initial Thoughts: Enjoyed this book better than the first! It was also scarier IMHO, but ghosts trump scarecrows, so... DEAD VOICES by Katherine Arden Putnam's Sons, August 2019 Children's Horror, Fantasy Rated: 5 / 5 cookies Having survived sinister scarecrows and the malevolent smiling man in Small Spaces, newly minted best friends Ollie, Coco, and [...]

Mari-with-an-I prefers her fantasies drenched in oil and fried up in faerie, but when that’s not the case, she’ll read it anyway. She likes writing what she reads, and likes baking while she writes. She’s written a few things for anthologies, including an anthology that got translated into Czech (I know, right?! Eeeeee!), and if you haven’t read them yet, she urges you to do so! Who knows, there might be a few cookies waiting for you at the end of the read.

…Or not. (Blast her pet steampoctopus for eating them all!)

Was this worth the wait?! DAMN RIGHT IT WAS. ACOTAR playing cards by @elithienart and everything from the packaging to the artwork and the cards themselves are 👩‍🍳 💋 💋 💋. Absolutely gorgeous. #acotar #playingcards #acotarfanart #elithienart
I CANNOT get over how gorgeous this @fairyloot edition is of Spice Road by Maiya Ibrahim! They've definitely knocked it out of the ballpark this month, for both the adult and YA boxes 🥰 #spiceroad #maiyaibrahim #fairyloot #yabox #special edition books #bookstagram
